3 years ago I made the Big Chop and entered into the world of Natural Hair. It’s been quite a journey! I have found myself with more questions than answers to ordinary hair problems, like dryness, curl definition, and the terrible shrinkage that curly girls seem destined to endure. Now being a naturalista the number one thing I’m worried about is keeping my hair healthy. Damaged hair doesn’t grow, is more prone to frizz and breakage, and just is not a good look overall. I was searching for the longest time to find the right products. I found while there are curl definition products I love and work marvelously on my hair my main issue was on the strength and integrity of hair itself.

I have seen Parnevu Products on store shelves in the past but I’m sure like many of you, I’m a little reluctant to try new things as far as my hair is concerned. My attitude changed however when I was introduced to PARNEVU Hair Mayonnaise,  Extra Dry Leave In Conditioner, and PARNEVU T-Tree Cream Glosser. While not designed specifically for natural hair they showcase a host of benefits any naturalista would love.

The Hair Mayonnaise is a rich deep conditioner. It’s infused with olive oil, egg protein and herbs to promote healthy hair and scalp and prides itself in being an amazing treatment for weak, damaged hair. When I first open the container I noticed the treatment was very thick, which is what you want in a deep conditioner. I was also impressed by the fact that you can actually see the herbs in the conditioner, making it more than just words on the ingredient label. I got best results with this conditioner by detangling my hair first (well soaking it first)  and then applying the product from root to ends and working through. I was left with silky hair that was ready to be styled.

The PARANEVU Extra Dry Leave In Conditioner was by far my absolute favorite product among the 3 I tried. For me it’s impossible to achieve the ultimate wash & go hairstyle without the use of a good leave in conditioner. This product exceeded my expectations and personally raised the bar upon which I judge all leave ins. The container itself made things easier for me. The big jar has a wide opening perfect for scooping just the right amount out, making it easier for me to achieve my desired style that much faster. This conditioner has a lot of slip, making even finger combing a breeze.  The Extra Dry Leave In Conditioner is formulated to mend split ends and bring moisture and balance back to chemically treated/and or colored hair. I really recommend this for any diva natural or relaxed. It’ll make wash day a breeze!

The PARNEVU T-Tree Cream Glosser has become a staple of mine, especially for twist outs.  This product is very different than any other glosser I have tried before. For starters it doesn’t leave my hands oily or weigh down my hair. I had never used any tea tree oil infused products in the past, as I was under the impression that it was for those with dandruff and other dry scalp issues. I’ve been fortunate not to have these specific hair issues so I never thought it was for me. I was wrong! I have learned that while Tea Tree Oil does relieve itchy flaky scalp issues it also is awesome for frizz and flyaways, which is a constant concern of mine. When I read the directions for the cream glosser I got another surprise, most glosser I have used in the past were a finishing product, used on dry, styled hair. This product was used on wet hair, prior to styling. This made it ideal for twist outs and wash & go styles as I could apply it prior to twisting my hair.

I would recommend the PARNEVU brand of styling products to any naturalista or relaxed diva. They will leave you with silky, manageable hair, and (I was pleasantly surprised) competitively priced, because looking posh doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

I am now addicted to Spotify. Spotify is a music streaming service, much like Pandora, but with some upgrades. Spotify makes listening to music social affair, users can follow friends and stay current on music they both love. Spotify also features a playlist feature. Let me just say that I LOVE that you can make playlist and play what songs you want to hear. Spotify integrates beautifully into Facebook letting my friends know that I am completely random and enjoy a wide range of Music. The Facebook Share feature does allow for ingonito listening just in case you don’t want your friends knowing that you love big band music.

I currently Use Spotify’s Free service, which allows listening on a desktop or laptop computer, although honestly I wouldn’t be opposed to going premium, as it’s a cheaper alternative to downloading itunes of every song I like.  There is a 30 Day Free Trial When Upgrade to Spotify Premium which allows you to listen on all your devices where ever you are. Well actually I’ve been divorced for over a month. It’s been rough. It’s actually taken me a while to talk about it with anyone. Now I’m sure you’ve noticed a big difference in the quality of my posts in the last month or so, that’s primarily because 1 I had a lot on my plate and 2 I just didn’t have anything nice to say. I was angry, hurt I didn’t know how to get over these feelings or what to do with them. The last thing I wanted to do was get online and talking about love and romance. I lashed out on those closest to me, I made up excuses and blamed the wrong people for my current mood and why I was so hurt. It took a very old friend to help me see why I was so angry. After that conversation I literally felt the anger wash away. Now I was still hurt, and the loneliness was unbearable, but I wasn’t angry and lashing out anymore which is a good thing, because I kind of like my friends and want to keep them.

Now I am faced with the reality that things are different now. I’m on my with everything. It’s a little scary but I remind myself that I maintained a household and took care of my two boys long before I met my ex so I know I can do this. What actually scares me most of all is the idea of dating. I haven’t been on a date in 7 years! I get asked out a lot, but weeding through the jerks to find a guy who is half decent is just a little more work than I’m prepared for.

I decided recently that maybe blogging is the best therapy for me. Here I can sort of chronicle my life post-divorce and possibly meet other women who have been through the same thing as myself. I may even be able to help another Diva out there who is just beginning the process and needs some guidance, a shoulder to cry on, or just an ear to hear.

Now I’ll be completely honest. I have never really thought much about using a store brand. I’ve always been a name brand kind of girl. When I was contacted to review Kroger Brand Products for the Summer Grilling Season I thought to myself, why not? I’m the mom of two teenage boys and let’s just say I could use a little assistance in the food budget. Yeah they are eating me out of house and home, it’s even worse now that they are on Summer Break. So with no expectations whatsoever, I dove right in.

We got the chance to try Big K Soda, Kroger’s Tortilla Chips, and Kroger Deluxe Ice Cream thanks to Kroger’s and BzzAgent.

Now we are die hard soda drinkers at my house. I know, I know not the healthiest option, but I love it nonetheless. I was pleasantly surprised to see how affordable the Big K Soda was. At the time, Big K soda was on sale 4 12 packs for $9.00. I couldn’t believe the savings! We tried a variety of flavors including Black Cherry Soda ( Devon’s Favorite)  Pink Lemonade ( Ian’s Favorite) Cherry Cola ( My favorite) and Citrus Drop. I have to say that the sodas have just as much flavor and fizzy goodness as a National Brand, but at a fraction of the cost. We were very impressed with them.

The Kroger Tortilla Chips, honestly we could not tell the difference between these and the National Brands we have tried in the past. We tried the tortilla scoop variety which made excellent turkey nachos. I recommend these for your next party, event, or just lounging around the house.

My Favorite – Kroger Deluxe Ice Cream. Fraction of the cost of National Brands, without skimping on flavor. We tried a Cookies & Cream Variety as well as Caramel Surprise. I was not expecting flavors like these. Maybe Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, you know the basics. Kroger’s Ice Cream was very creamy and the flavors were dynamite. It was almost like visiting a local ice cream shop. It made for a great ending to a fab day I got to share with my kids, exploring new food items while vegging out to watch movies. Bliss.

Needless to say we have been converted. So much so that we have tried a couple other Kroger Brand Products, just to see what we have been missing. I haven’t tried a single product that we did not enjoy.
